Reading the amd chart (http://www.thedigerati.us/info/amdcpuchart.html#xp), I noticed the max die temp. and wondered if I could let my cpu (threb xp2400) run a little hotter but below the max temp, say 70C, to achieve better fan noise. Do you think it's a good, achievable, wise idea?
If AMD says the max die temp as it is, there should be no problem, right?
Thanks

I wouldn’t do it. The die temperature and the temp you get from your motherboard\software are usually different. There are some motherboards that can read the die temp, but not many. I personally try and keep my cpu no hotter than 50c under load. Under 55-60c might be acceptable.

Yep that is a little warm, keep try to keep your cpu at 50c or under, what "the Lodge says he knows what is is talking about! My likes to say below 45c

it's better to have a noisy fan due do its speed rather sacrificing your temp specially in the CPU die.
