at work we are on a lan with win 95/98/nt computers. sometimes when I shut down I get a message that there is someone connected to my computer and shutting down will disconnect them. Is there any way to tell who is connected to my computer?
Windows 9x sometimes thinks a user is attached to a computer even after the user has closed the connection on his end. The Netwatcher utility on the Win98 machine will tell you what user was/is connected (must be installed with Windows or from control panels windows setup/add/remove programs sections).
As far as NT, you can use event viewers logging functions to record users attached.
For any sys, you can use LockDown2000 software (free download from the net) to monitor and even force disconnect users from your PC.
There's a multitude of ways to tell, but I wouldn't worry about cutting someone off when you shut down, if you don't know what they are doing on your PC, maybe they shouldn't be there anyways...no?

Is there a computer on the lan that is drive maping one of your drives? This assumes that your drives are shared...
