BBA 07-29-1999, 11:41 PM No performance difference if identical chips are used, they both have P2 architecture. I just use reason: Slot 1 = upgrade-able, PPGA = Celeron. There is really no other way around this. BBA Raider 07-30-1999, 06:42 AM If you are asking which are the better chips ie which will I get the best performance out of then, the answer is probably the Slot1 chip every time. The PPGA chips, as for as I know, are all restricted to 66Mhz leading to less performance when put up against a lesser Slot1 that will at 100Mhz or above. MaxVal 07-30-1999, 09:46 AM The PPGA has an enhanced core, making them more likly to reliably overclock. It is best to use them with a high quality converter (ASUS, Microstar, Atrend, etc.) in a good BX board. Cost is about even when the converter is figured in, and you maintain the flexibility to upgrade to P-II, or P-III. Most of the benifit of the 100mhz bus comes from running the cache at that speed. A BIG plus for socket 7, no big deal for PII or cel. since the on CPU cache is already tied to core freq. One half core on PII, core on the Celeron. Max Max SysOpt.com
