The two do not work together. Yamaha says Asus M/B is the problem. Can't contact Asus but expect a run a round. Is Intel Seattle the answer? Will the Adaptec 2906 do the job or is there more expense down the road?

If this board has an onboard controller then a controller card, such as the 2904 or 2940, could very well be the answer.

Have read on a number of sites that this drive has a problem with onboard controllers but has no problems with controller cards.

Hi

A few months ago, at work, I have installed a machine with the following components:
- Asus P2B-S (Controller Adaptec 2940 U2W on-board)
- PII 400Mhz, with 128Mb SDRam
- IBM 9LZX 9.1Gb LVD
- Iomega SCSI ZIP
- Seagate SCSI backup device (can't remember whci one)
- Yamaha 4/4/16 CD-RW
- Plextor SCSI 32X CD-Rom
The OS is NT4 sp5

The PC works great and have never crashed !
The Yamaha CD-RW works like a dream...

I don't think the Asus board is the problem. It is probably one of the best mobo around.
Try newer drivers for the SCSI controller.
