Madden 2005 quits mid-loading of franchise game

Madden 2005 has always worked fine for me, and now suddenly I can't play any franchise games. Every part of the game works, even loading the franchise team, but when I click play game to play the 5th game of my 2007 season, the game loads 50% and then quits. Any ideas?

Yeah, I do, but I ran the patch anyways, still no dice. EA tech support basically told me to uninstall the game, delete all my saved games, and to erase everything madden wrote in the registry, but I would really like to keep my saved franchise.

Sounds like your franchise file is corrupt. :mad: That happened to me once. Try this, copy your saved files to another folder and uninstall Madden completely. Reinstall the game and start a fake franchise and save it, quit the game. Now copy your saved franchise back into the saved folder. If it loads up you're ok.

Oh well, I have to start a new franchise. Dang, and I had built everything up so much and come so far. argh.

OK, this is total nonsense. With the updated info, starting a franchise uses "current" info, and the skins are short a free safety, and there is no way for me to sign one before mini-camp, but I can't play mini-camp below the roster requirement. Stupid EA.

I never use EA's default rosters, click on the download link and install Strutt's latest roster. He updates the rosters with correct names, ratings, numbers and enough players on each team to start a franchise. He's one of the best roster modders out there.

Once I get my franchise started though my franchise stats are different from any updated stats, right? I finally got started since the skins have an extra strong safety (which in real life they just pretend is a free safety but stupid madden won't let me) and I found some crappy free safety to trade for. Thanks for the links.
