I have a friend who is using Internet Explorer 6.0.2600 for WinME. He is using AOL dialup. He has been having problems getting cookies to work with his financial website which is using SSL secure connection.

Once connected to the HTTPS page and then he attempts to log in he eventually gets an error message: Error ASV-005 We reuqire cookies to be enabled for your browser.

We;ve gone into Internet Options and lowered all security settings for Internet and other zones to LOW. We've cleared the Temp folders, and clicked all cookies (including from the C:\Windows\Cookies folder), we've adjusted the Privacy area's cookie settings to custom and Accept All Cookies for both first and thir parties and checked on Always Allow Session Cookies. Under advanced we've checked that SSL 2.0 and 3.0 are checked and JIT Runtime is checked on. We've even clicked Restore Defaults under Advanced.

Now one thing we never checked into is the AOL 9 helper files. Perhaps something there could be blocking the site?! I think he has AOL Secuirty or is it Optimized? Anyway he ahs connected to other SSL website besides his main finanacial site, such as Bank Of America and one other. All 3 sites complain after he attempts to log in about cookies.

Unfortunately System Restore isnt an option. Connecting to other websites have been fine though i havent confirmed this is directly a cookie issue by getting him to log into a cookie using site that is not HTTPS.

Any solutions?
