I'm going to be getting a new hdd in the next day or so. I'm presently running win95 on my current system. I would like to run win98se on the new hdd, but I want both hdd's in the same system at least for now. I have no idea how to even go about starting something like this, and I would really appreciate the help.
Thanks

You can easily have a dual boot machine with NT Workstation and 95 or 98. Simply install NT after 95 or 98.
In order to have a dual boot machine with both 95 and 98 it is much more complicated. First your hard drive must be partitioned into 4 distinct quadrants. This can be done through the FDisk command at the C:\ prompt or by typing c:\del *.*
After that you are all set...but you must install 98 first. Then if you use the 95 upgrade disks you will see the MS backdoor. This will bring up a dialog box that enables a dual boot.
Also to save on Memory Leaks edit your config.sys to show the following line:
Files=1,978
Anymore or less and the backdoor will no longer be available (reboot after putting that entry in).
Let me know how you make out.

Maxman, thanks for the help, but I've decided that it's just lame to even bother wasting the time putting 95 and 98 on the system... I'm just gonna put 98 and NT or Linux on it. I was wondering if there is anywhere to download a free copy a linux that you know of.
thanks,
Joey

Linux: www.linux.org
Under distributions, it lists sites that you can download it free.

zskillz, you may find out that downloading it is a waste of time since it will probably take a couple of days to get the whole thing. I ended up going to the www.linuxmall.com and had them send me it on CDROM.
Consider it if your system dies and a reinstall is necessary, if you don't have a backup of the download your screwed unless you burn you own CD's.
Good luck Linux is a very,very large download.

sheesh.. I figured that out last night.. forget the dl is right. I'll just go buy a cd so i have the documentation as well. What version of linux do you all suggest using? I'm looking primarily at red hat and caldera because I've heard those are pretty good.
