I have 2 computers that both have win xp pro installed they also have 10/100m lans
i have a cat6 crossover cable hooked to them. Now the host computer can acess the internet but can not access it with the client computer. The client does show shared files. By the way iam on dialup if that matters. Heres a list of my isps and such.

Host comp
IP addy 192.168.0.1
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway none

Client
IP addy 192.168.0.110
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default gateway 192.168.0.1

please look at the "best of" thread.

you need:

same workgroup
same username/password

besides the configuration you made, you should enable internet coection sharing on that dial up connection you are using.

the fact that it is using the 192.168.0.1 IP means he probably did that already.
