I have inherited a TI Travel Mate 6050 NT loaded with Win 98 that refuses to recognize when a pc card has been inserted into either slot. These cards work on other machines. I have removed the card buss numerous times and it is recognized and reinstalled by Win 98. These cards are a modem card and a ethernet card. Any one out there with ideas on how to deal with this?

Will any card work in the slot?

Maybe thats why you inherited it.

Only once did I get the slots to recognise that a card was inserted. I am not sure how it happened but when rebooted it was back to not recogniseing slots. Any one out there have any ideas on this problem.

Thanks

Well...first off...make sure that you have the current drivers for the PCMCIA BUS. That may or may not help the situation. Confirm that their are no conflicts. You can also try going to safe mode, using 'Device Manager' and making sure that their are no 'dupilcate' drivers being loaded for the PCMCIA sockets. If their are, remove all instances of them, and reboot. Then try inserting one of the cards and see if it recognizing it.

See if any of this helps..I hope so...
