I bought OS/2 for Windows version 2.1 a couple years ago. I was never able to understand how to install it. It doesn't have a setup file. I don't have the documentation because I bought it at a computer show. Can anyone give me an idea on how I can install this? (I know its an old cheesy os, but I've always wanted to try it out) thanks for any input.

Hey, if you can figure it out, tell me all about it when you get it running! I have always been interested in that OS, I even have the instruction manuals from one of the updates, though they say nothing about the Win version. Good luck!

Cheesy? I guess that is why MS copied all the new features of OS/2 v4 and called Win98 'innovative'.

Of course stats and surveys can be manipulated to say anything one wants, but this might be of some interest; http://www.deja.com/[ST_cam=search.yahoo.none.slot]/rate/list_items.xp?CID=12029&PCID=11878&N=0

Try http://service.software.ibm.com/os2ddpak/html/index.htm for current drivers;

Try http://ps.software.ibm.com/pbin-usa-ps/getobj.pl?/pdocs-usa/otherservices.html for other links. I believe official support was discontinued for v2.1 for windows. Try Warp 4.0 instead, you can pick it up pretty cheap if you look.

OS/2 is ok, I forget how to install 2.1 for Win, but I know how to install Warp. Its not really a cheesy OS, as it seems suprisingly similar to Windows 95/98. You can see where Microsoft stole a lot of ideas... Also there is a really good strategy game for OS/2 if your interested goto www.stardock.com (http://www.stardock.com) , its called Galactic Civilizations, when it came out (Mid '90s) a bunch of reviews gave it rave reviews. Its a good game, really in depth although graphics arn't tops. And despite what they have it listed for on their site I bet if you send them an email about it you can probably get it cheaper (because its old and they are working on a totally new, better, redesigned version for Windows).
