I recently bought a barebones system just to mess around with (and becasue it was cheap), but I can't get any sound. It has a Cyrix 200 mhz chip, and the manual lists the mb as GCT-MGX, which has integrated sound. The driver it came with (Xpaudi0 - audio.inf) doen't seem to work.

In device manager I do have to items under OTHER DEVICES called CMI8330 audio device, but it won't accept the driver I have when I try to use it.

I'm running Win98, btw

I could just buy a sound card, but I'd much rather gt the onboard audio to work if I can

Thanks

That audio is made by SoundPro. You can download the drivers from PCChips here:
www.pcchips.com/ht1869dr.html (http://www.pcchips.com/ht1869dr.html)

Before you reinstall the new drivers, delete all prior entries, reboot and let WIN redetect.
