I have a small problem that I have yet to figure out. I have a TekRam DC-390U PCI SCSI controller. On this controller I have a Quantum 6.4GIG HDD, a TOSHIBA 32x CD-Rom and an IOMEGA ZIP Internal drive. Most of the time the CD-Rom drive performs with no problems. But at certains times, for instance if I am installing something from the CD-Rom drive and I cancel the installation, all of a sudden my CD-Rom drive will become very sluggish. It's like it almost slows down to 4x or something. Neither my ZIP nor my HDD degrade in performance when this happens. The problem seems to only affect my CD-Rom. To rid the problem, I remove the CD-Rom drive from 'Device Manager' and I reboot my system.

When the system comes back up the CD-Rom drive works great...

My system consists of the following...

CPU : AMD K6-2 400 w/ 3DNow!
MEM : 128MB PC100
HDD : QUANTUM 6.4GB SCSI
FDD : 1 - 3.5"
SCSI: TEKRAM DC-390/U
SCSI: ADVANSYS ISA
CD : TOSHIBA 32x SCSI
CDR : RICOH 2x4 1420C (ON ADVANSYS)
ZIP : IOMEGA INTERNAL SCSI
VID : CREATIVE VOODOO BANSHEE 16MB
SND : DIAMOND MULTIMEDIA MX-300
MDM : NONE
