I've recently aquired an old 486-dx2... It is badly in need of a reformat, so that I can just start fresh... The problem is that I don't have almost any of the drivers for all of the presently installed hardware. Obviously they are are currently on the system now, so my question is:
Can I somehow create driver diskettes for all of my hardware, just by copying the drivers from there current location, or is there some other procedure that I have to follow to accomplish this goal?..
thanks a lot to any responses

First thing to do is full backup.

What OS are you going to use? Win 95 will supply needed drivers on installation, but you MUST have boot disk set up with the drivers for your CD drive to install OS.

If you know whose hardware you've got, check their websites for drivers, or just check
http://www.windrivers.com/

When you install, plan on being there for a while! Last time I put '95 on one of those it took 2 -3 hrs including several lockups.
Good luck.

Thanks Ed...
I'm gonna put win95 back on for now, but soon I'm gonna switch to either NT or LINUX.. I'm changing this computer into a firewall/router, but I need to make sure that it's tip-top (haha.. for a 486 that is) before I try anything.
