problem....UT 2004 won't load ...critical error??

Boy...this is strange...

I put my UT 2004 disk in and when I push any icon to open it as usual it gives me this pop up message...,stating a couple of lines with code (simple) telling me It can not find or access VC.Properties,system, and what not....

I wonder if i will have to re-enstall the game...

This happened right after i installed the newest mods out for it....
Obviously one of them is bad...and needs to be worked on...again,I do not know...

Somone here must have had this problem on this game or another game...

Help! I wanna play some online soon....

Do any of the mods have any sort of uninstall feature that will revert your setup back to the original set of files?

I don't know..but i will check and see if that helps...

May have to do a restore to see if that puts everything back to when it was before....

Imagine doing all those single player missions over again.... i was doing just average and on the higher levels ..getting my behind kicked around pretty good..( lose of points)..

This game is one i spend alot of time online playing....love it...alot of fun.;)

The "No Video" is the error that seems to be pertinent here. This link deals with a problem similar to yours.

It sounds like a setting in the drivers. I'm guessing that you could load the defaults for the drivers and hopefully resolve this. If not, search Google on "UT2004 no video error" and you'll get a number of hits.

I don't think its a video issue..but at the top of the error message it has a date of version build and it says the same date as when I installed the update Mods..

Everything has worked well using my current video card drivers..as I do not think that is the issue... although I do use the beta Starstrom drivers put out for Nvidia FX cards... no issues with anything else i play here.

Probably something in the registry string i believe has changed causing it to come up with a wrong version read error or something....

Just may have to re-install it as there is no uninstall for the updates listed in the add/remove portion of the CP...nor in my UT 2004 folder....

Wow! 5+ gigs of doing over..plus my saves or SP levels...;)

Not to get off the subject..but a friend gave me a new site yesterday of a place where you can get some real cool screensavers and wallpapers... The name of the place is Gizmozone.com

They have two or three really neat screensavers there of flying aircraft and another showing space and the space station plus other... Christmas SS also. Check it out...;)

I couldn't stand it any longer as I just re-installed it..no problems playing so far...

What is strange is that I went into the add/remove programs and it said it could not find the game..and so since there was no uninstaller in the folder package..A(also strange) , I just deleted the folder and went into registry and deleted UT entries also.

No problems re-installing it at all.

I still think that one of the Mods did something to the start process..maybe changing strings or something...who knows... of course i wish I knew why whatever did whatever for whatever reasons.....

In the read me file..it does stress the need to update your video drivers to play this.... game looks super to me playing on a FX5900 card.at high settings...2x AA and AF only, as that is where I have it set on for now.

Now i have to go through the whole ladder again.....but i was going to start over again anyways..so this was the chance I guess.

No... no duffers mod ..but the added maps Mod and one other that has to do with UT 2003....which loads in that file....

Just reminded me that i need to reinstall the update patch...
Things should work ok after installing that one...they did before.;)
