I just installed a parallel port card in my computer and everthing is ok with the new one, but the first or LPT1 doesn't work now, the device manager says no conficts and they are both listed like they normally are, any suggestions.

Shut down your computer and go into your bios. The onboard printer port is configured in integrated peripherals. Set the onboard printer port to a specific address and IRQ; don’t use automatic. Use something like: 378/IRQ7
Next, your add on card has jumpers. Jumper it to something different that the one you set in the bios. I suggest 278/IRQ5. Make sure to reserve the IRQ that you select for the add-on card for legacy devices. I assume that your add on card is not plug and play. I have never seed an add-on printer card that is plug and play.
Reset computer and hit pause key after bios reports all setting info. Look at the parallel port report and make sure your bios is reporting two installed printer ports. Only after you have confirmed that two printer ports are being recognized by the bios, should you go into w9x. Good luck.
