I believe that you should disable the comport in the bios that you have the modem on. That is if you put the modem on com 2 you need to disable com 2 in the bios.

I had the same problem when I upgraded to Win98 using a Supra Express internal w/voice, but I finally did get it to work. Check out the post dated 7-17-99 by PJWright entitled "modem not responding after Win98 upgrade" , I think you will find your answer there. Good Luck, Randy subfam2 07-22-1999, 12:42 AM I just installed a FIC 503+ w/a AMD k62-400. S3 virge dx vid card, 32m pc100ram, 1.6g WD hard dr. Have a Diamond Supra Express e external fax modem (Intntl version) which I have used in the past and on another system I have w/a Tyan 1590 and amdk62-350 and it works fine. Anyway, can't get it to be recognized. Tried com1 and two. The little light comes on when I try and add it through the control panel-so it's pinging it, but won't recognize it. I have tried messing with the Bios settings for primary and secondary on C1 and C2 but to no avail. Help! Thanks subfam2 07-22-1999, 09:54 AM Thanks for the responses. I did check out the 7-17 posting and I see that I have not used the new cables that came with the board-shame on me! I didn't think it would matter. Will try it when I get home tonight. Thanks subfam2 07-23-1999, 01:23 PM who woulda thunk it. I switched the cables over and it installed-very slick. Thanks for the info. SysOpt.com
