I got a 4 port Netgear router and two more computers that need to be hooked up... there's already 3 on the router, which means I got one left, but two computers :(

So, I was thinking, is it possible to go from the router to a hub? What I'm thinking is running a wire from the 4th port on my router to the room with the two computers, and then in that room splitting that wire with a hub and then going to each computer that way... is this possible?

Thanks

wait!!! don't get a hub. get a switch.

I thought you already had a hub. if you're gonna buy something new, get a switch.

if you're going out to buy something, don't get a hub. get a switch instead. a switch will give you better performance than a hub and they are about the same price now.

if you had an old hub lying around, then you could just use that. no sense in buying new hardware. I have an old hub that I just use for quickie setups. I don't use it in my main network anymore.

Ohhhh alright, I gotcha ;)

Ya scared me for a minute there! I was just about to leave, but seriously, I'm going now to get one... if the price isnt that much different between the two then I'll get a switch :)
