Are you sure that the eject icon is for the SATA drive? What is your BIOS boot sequence set to? It should be floppy, CD, SCSI.
Are any card readers installed?
Have you updated the BIOS?
Have you tried updated SATA drivers?

Well acctually the sequence I have is hard-disk (scsi is not listed but I guess gigabyte combined it into one section) cd rom then floppy.
I have not updated the bios and drivers are up to date I got them from the Gigabytes site.
I did have trouble installing drivers but know that I think about this windows can't let me since my registry must be screwed up since it seems like I have installed windows on a portable drive that can't give me full access. I don't know I was hoping to resolve this with out reinstalling windows again but then that's not hard but I just dont want to do it and end up with the same problem.
I guess if I do this time I will pull out the drivers from the gigabytes cd. I cant belive they cant give me a floppy with sata drivers with a 200$ mobo like that is an expense for them but that's a whole other topic.
Anyone with any ideas why this is so or how to figure this out let me know!!!

Check the BIOS boot sequence again. See what your choices are. If there's a "BBS-0", that's what you need. Sometimes the BIOS actually specifies the drive it sees.
Please read the manual.

Read the motherboard manual. It walks you through the motherboard bios.
Also, check in Device Manager, make sure the harddrive is not set as a removeable drive.
Motherboard drivers installed?

BBS = BIOS Boot Sequence. When a drive is not SCSI and not IDE, BIOS sometimes calls it BBS. BBS-0 means that it's the first drive on that controller. The next would be BBS-1.
