Hi

I am having to move and the tel line (downstairs) will be approx 20 meters from my pc (upstairs). I have heard that you should not use an ADSL modem with a tel extention more than 10 meters long the speed will drop.

All the wireless adsl modem/routers show as having to be wired into 1 pc to get wireless to other.

Is there anyway i can setup a wireless modem/router downstairs that sends to my pc upstairs without the wireless modem/router having to be plugged into a pc downstairs.

Or will the speed be ok over 20meters tel line ext

Thanks

wrong. that is an option. you don't need to have a pc plugged into the router at all.

you can try running the adsl modem of the 20M line, but there might be signal degradation.

The only time you would need to have a pc connected to the wap/router/modem (i think you mean a combo box) is when you have to do a firmware update. talk to your ISP, since they might have some funky software setup. I have 3 computers connected wirelessly and none are physically connected to my router.
