Suppose if any one here has kept up with the latest on games and whats coming out..you might have seen the trailers, screenies and reviews for this totally awesome game, which is coming to PC this month.
I mean, this is not just another first person action shooter ( even though it is actually),it has some of the best graphics, action and stroyline I have seencome out for awhile....
This is going to be hot.. hot.. hot..
I am putting this one on my top five next games to get..along with SC 3, F.E.A.R,and a couple others...
The links for the trailers and game site are on the Vivendi home page...

As long as it plays the same as the Xbox version the PC version should be pretty good. The retail price is $29.99 which almost makes it worthwhile right there.
My biggest fear is that it will be like the Spiderman game that came out. On the consoles it was great, but the PC version was a different game altogether, and was not very fun.

Being able to beat the crud out of people as Vin Diesel is worth 30 bucks anyday. :t

Not that price has anything to do with how great a game is or anything else...but $30.00. Come on..how could you go wrong with that.....I would get it tommorrow if I had it....
X Box smex box....PC games are always better graphicly and in most other ways generally....
Check ouot the movies and judge for yourself.... this is fantastic looking and the gameplay looks awesome..... great effects and action abound.....
Really now ..,how many good shooters is there comming out now...or in the near future?? Not that many.
I think HL2 got most of the hype and probably scared alot of the game makers a bit...and drew attention away from other games.
By the spring of this next year we are going to see some more sure fire winners..which for whatever reasons decided it best to wait a while for their releases...;)

The Chronicles of Riddic is one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I just hope the game can live up to the hype it's getting. But if you've ever played Spider-Man 2 for PC you know exactly what apocalypse is talking about: worst console port EVER. It's one of my favorite games on PS2, but I was so disapointed with the port, as I'm a spidy fan. I just hope they don't do the same thing with CoR.

My friend got the game for xbox when it came out. and that was about the time doom 3 came out. and he messages me saying that the graphics are much better etc. etc. this game totally kicks doom 3 in the nut etc etc.
the guy doesnt have a clue. the graphics on xbox are total balls compared to what my X800 pro can render. he says it has very doom3 type graphics. and a lack of disapearing bodies was his favourite bit . as for gameplay well it might be better than doom 3 there. ;)
i dont think i will buy it until you guys give me a credable opinion of the PC version. so somebody buy it and tell me :p

yeah but at least when a game comes out for a console you don't have to worry about upgrading as compared to upgrading your computer every 2 months to get the game to look better. take a look at some of the games for ps2 and xbox, how is possible that those games got better ratings then that of the computer and then say consoles bite.

Reviews of Xbox/PS2/GC games do not correlate to PC reviews. An Xbox game is judged based on the capacity of the platform.
Comparing PC graphics to Xbox graphics is apples to oranges.
Xbox is a Dx8 part. PC graphics are superior to any current console. Next gen consoles (PS3, Xbox next, Whatever Nintendo comes out with) will initally be on par with PCs. That will last all of 6 months if that...

ratings do make the game no matter what it's for. xbox is a pentium 3 and is far superior then the other 2 consoles. remember what happened with halo for pc, bit! chronicles of riddick for pc, who knows? never port a console game to a pc it never works and so far has proven not too.

gamespot's review gave it a 9.3 superb compared to the xbox which got the same thing. the viewers gave it a 8.9 good on both so it goes to show you that the xbox is really not that weak.

Keep in mind that XBOX is not compared to PC. XBOX games compared to XBOX games and PC to PC. :t
When Doom3 comes out for XBOX compare XBOX graphics to PC graphics.

I picked this game up 12/10/04 and I am about 2 hours into it. Fun so far. The review at www.gamespot.com is pretty accurate from what I've seen of the game so far.
In the Portland, OR area Fry's has it for $24.99 until 12/11/04 and of course you can get a price match at any of the other large stores.
The game is pretty demanding hardware-wise. I had to turn off my antialiasing and anisotropic filtering as it slowed the framerate down quite a bit when running at 1024x768 (AIW Radeon 9800 Pro and P4 2.8 oc'd to 3.3 Ghz).
I've got some vacation time coming up so it looks like I'll have about 10-15 hours of some quality gameplay ahead.

Cheesy actor, but this game has got some fantastic reviews, who knows this may be the break in Movie to Games garbage that comes out, its very Rare that a Movie has made a good game, but in this case It looks like it has been pulled of.
PS: what engine is this Game renderd on?

I'd say that he gets some cheesy roles. But he's not really a cheesy actor, he's actually decent - he just hasnt had a chance to shine except for a few moments.
Chow Yun-Fat, in The Replacement killers was cheesy, in Bullet Proof Monk he was really cheesy, in The Corruptor he was perfect in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon He was great. I think it comes down to the director/story in the end.

Not taking the offensive, but being fair about the whole thing, I have to disagree about Vin Deisal being cheesy.. He pulls off the roles they have given him exceptionally well in my opinion and I actually like him alot....
One of the things that impressed me in this game is the character renderings ,which are very good and the graphics look better than most..maybe even on levels of D3 or similar....
I wasn't that fond of Pierce Bronslan being 007 either but they made a couple of very good games with him as a character for video games...and i suppose many other actors and movie games to follow suit in the future....
Its quite a challenge to make a game out of a movie or movie character and if pulled off, then alls good....and i see the industry heading this way for some games....
I'll probably pick this up next month. ( finances tight now );)

Ever since that movie XXX ive never liked him.
his famous quote "the thing i gotta do fo ma countrey"
(purposefull spelling mistakes there)
that just was awfull.
and in the chronicles of riddick
wee kid says "are the bad guys gone yet?"
Riddick "i am the bad guy"
so cheesy im sorry. my opinion there. the movie riddick if i remember correctly had the most annoying ending did it not?
The LOTR series of games has been pretty good IMO.

I love the LOTR games, especially Return of the King for PS2. And I agree that Vin Deisel is a good actor, just hasn't been getting good roles.

You make my point. If its those particular things the "lines" he said that bother you that's up to the director/writers. If something is wrong with his acting and every line comes out cheesy then you know you have a bad actor.
Anyway, looks like a good game.
Rabbitrunner51
12-16-2004, 03:47 PM
Well, Arnold says lots of cheesy things in the movies he makes as do mnay others.... I mean, get over it! Its just acting roles....and the writers give them that so its not his fault if some of you do not like it.....
I don't buy a game because of the acting so much as how the whole game is made and comes off...
Seen XXX a few times and found it entertaining...even though the lines can be a bit hoky.... if they gave him other lines..such as whatever...they might not come across so well or maybe they would suit someone else to say..... ( got to love the music track though..its awesome with Bush and all..; They ott to play the song Adrenalin as the game theme..that would do it for me )
Your opinion...its still a free country.. ;)

Got it couple of days ago ago and have played it for a few hours. Seem like an excellent game. Graphics are excellent...very Doom 3 ish (but plays far better than doom 3)....story interesting...adult...and fairly original. So far so good.....its got my Vote as a big name killer!

Played it on the X-Box and it is indeed awesome - no HL killer, but still one of the best games of recent years- knew i had to get it, but as with all FPS games, its had to be on the PC for me (keyboard and mouse are still the weapon of choice). Plus of course the PC version has a coupel of extra levels and added content over the X-Box original as well as the nicely tarted up gfx you would expect.
Should hopefully be getting my hands on it soon-ish

Vin is good in a few movies.
Man Apart wasn't too bad. No one liners, and the man acts in the film.
Knock around guys wasn't half bad either, although it should have made it's mind up if it was a comedy or a mob flick.
I also dug Pitch Black, where Vin introduces us to the Riddick charecter.
I still can't believe he got waxed in Saving Private Ryan so early.

I already started playing the game in comentary mode. Some of those comentaries are fun some are way too boring but it's a cool nifty feature. I realy liked the story of how they created blood marks. :D :t

You say the game is short....and understand it may be important as an element for some in whether to puchase or play it..but considering the overall good reviews (yourself included), I believe I will still get it.
This may be why they only charge $25-30.00 for the game..which is mainly irrelavent....only if its good enough to get and play.
Some peole take longer to complete a game so ten hours does not seem long..but I guess if depends upon how much and how long you play it at one sitting.
Always good to hear some reviews and updates from someone who has played it here, is an avid gamer and can give a fair assessment. thanks!

Its rather interesting to me..that every good game that comes out..it seems like somebody wants multiplayer.
Some games might not relate to this style of play possibly, but I cannot blame you for wishing and hoping....
I have played some MP games thrown in some games that were bad or did not have much of a following, and until I play it I couldn't say if this would work.
One such case is the Splinter Cell games, which in the last they threw something together, mostly I believe just as a marketing tool to sell the game. It was terrible. The game(s) on the other hand are one of my all time favorites and will snatch up SC 3 when it comes out in the next couple of months.
Right now...between UT 2004 and CS Source , those two take up way too many hours of my time already.... but I am not complaining as they are in the top two right now and rightly deserve it.

for me games need multiplayer
single player well there are good single payer games (hl2) but if i finished them, well thats it . . . . i dont play them again, too boring for me
but if a SP game is very long like . . . finaly fantasy games then im happy but most games arent longer than 15 hours
if cod wudnt have multiplayer it wud have been the biggest waste of money

I'm playing Chronicles of Riddick and enjoying it very much.
There's a sense of polish about this game, a real sense of the movie and game being given equal attention. From the startup sequence where the credits appear movie-style as you're lead to the prison ,to the ability to unlock all sorts of movie related extra's, to the high quality voice acting and realistic models. IMO there's something quite new here and it's well worth a look.
My only gripes so far are that the graphics are closer to Doom3 than HL2, some of the textures are not so nice, the shadows are not so natural looking and I'm struggling a bit with the framerate at 1024x768 on a 9800 Pro + 3Gig P4. Still graphically very good though.
JediOfDarkness

That's what the graphics look like to me, Doom 3. But that's not a bad thing at all. I think Doom 3 looks awesome. Personaly I think HL2 looks better because it's not so dark and gloomy, but D3 still has great graphics. I've got to get me this game and try it out. Demo coming out soon?

Pretty good ananlogy about the graphics.....
This does look alot like Doom 3 doesn't it?
JediOfDarkness
01-03-2005, 03:10 AM
Yeah, it really does. Maybe they just stole the D3 engine and won't admit to it :p But at least they know how to use lighting effects... unlike id. And hey, are those subtitles? I guess what Valve did in HL2 with the subtitles is already kicking off.

Not all the screens show up with htis tint either...and from the looks of all the screenies..its done really well graphicly...
The game has gotten some pretty high review marks to date..
I am getting this in about a week and a half or sooner....then i will give some reviews of my own....
heck, HL 2 was not all that long...about right as games go...but I like a game that is just well done in all arenas....
Is this company a little new ? Seems everybody is getting into the gaming bull ring.... new artists and developers is always a good thing.;)

I heard BooH sucked compared to the original game. You think it was any good?
Happy Joe
01-03-2005, 08:16 PM
BOOH was short 12 levels, darker than the original, lots of tunnels, It was pretty much more of the same(point shoot, dodge), but the puzzels were harder for me. There are 2 new weapons and I liked the variation in the monsters and settings. Given the $20 price tag (and it was a christmas gift) it is hard to be disapointed.
I think that if you liked the original you will like the expansion... I did!
Enjoy!
