This is an oldie that I picked up the other day. Has a WD 60GB HD, & Dual CD burners.
BUT it is limited to 128MB of slow EDO RAM.

Id like to build it up for the wife to play on Ebay so it should be good for importing photos via USB and general stuff without being a dog. The old lady doesnt have much patience!

I have a choice of Win95, 95SE, 2000Pro and XPPro available here. What are y'all suggestions?

Also anybody had experience O'clocking this mobo? This is my 1st Compaq and cant even pull an ID on it.

That should run 2000 fine. It would be better with a little more ram, but it will work the way it is.

W2K will be fine but with the RAM will be a bit slower.

Go 98 and put " ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1" in your system.ini file under the 386Enh section.

Get the unofficial 98se service pack as well and put it on there.

Ive put that on a good number with no trouble.

Suggestions are, dont have ANYTHING starting up with the O/S. Have her open things as she needs them. Make good use of Msconfig.

I would increase the memory to 128mb, and try the XP-Pro http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314865
Good Luck:)

to identify your parts for drivers, just did an old compaq and got correct drivers for the graphics controller.
