Try re-installing the software that came with it. That DLL should have been installed by the program.

How are you attempting to play the DVD?

You must have a hardware decoder or a software decoder application. Which do you have?

I suggest reinstalling that because the DVD will function fine in the OS for data without any other driver installation, just movies need players.

skywalker - are you positive it's "quarts" with an "s"? I found a quartz.dll, (with a "z") but not sure if it's what you need!

http://solo.abac.com/dllarchive/Q.html Don't install it if it's not the right one!

Is the quartz.dll in your C:\Windows\System directory? That's where it should reside.

What Xing version is it? Have you tried a patch?

You said you had no software - that the DVD was OEM. Then you said you have XingDVD. Where did you get the XingDVD (thats a software decoder program)

If you're not sure if you have the program, go to Run/Find and type in XingDVD and see what pops up.

~~EDIT: try this and see if it gives you an idea of what may be wrong. www.activewin.com/dvd/reviews/players/software/xingdvd_203.shtml (http://www.activewin.com/dvd/reviews/players/software/xingdvd_203.shtml)

Yes, the XingDVD is the software DVD decoder.

Have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling again per previous suggestions? If yes, then uninstall/reinstall with a fresh app from that softDVD site and check for newer drivers/patches.

Is this a SCSI DVD drive?
What type of vidcard?
Do you have the MS DirectShow and DirectX 6.0 installed?
Latest drivers? Patches?

Yes, hard decoders are better than the soft ones. But the soft decoder should work.

Egads! Seems like these boxes are haunted sometimes. Well, if you had it working before, I see no reason why you won't get it working again! Check your connections; then check them again. Is the drive being recognized by the bios?

Is anything conflicting in Device Manager?

You may want to try booting into Safe Mode, looking at each device, removing any duplicate anythings in there, shut (power off) down, and restart.

Again, you may want to reinstall the same program that you found to work last time.
