Has anyone else noticed that 'tats' are getting more and more common?
Heck, even in movies and computer games, its now almost unheard of to have the main character not sporting a tatoo.
Now you can even get UV reactive ones that are invisible under normal light but glow blue-green under UV.

Got the grim reaper on my upper arm, about 45cm tall (had it done when I was a REAL gothic). had it done 20 years ago and never regretted it, Tattoo's have been very popular in Holland for about three years now, especially with the girls.

Seen a few nice one's in unusual places as well !!!

I'm thinking of getting a small tat, nothing elaborate, but I've not made up my mind about it just yet.

I've got a weird logo on my right shoulder and a tribal type design between my shoulder blades. Tattoos are expensive and fairly pointless, but I don't regret getting either.

gringo
12-06-2004, 08:23 AM
I don't know about being pointless, my tattoo reminds me of the wild and wonderful times that I had when I was younger, and brings back good (and bad) memories of the times. As I said I never regretted having it done.

The problem with tattoo's nowadays is that people are having tattoo's because it's fashionable, but they don't think about the fact that in 20 years time you are still stuck with it. It's not like clothes or jewellery that you can change or discard. It's a serious decision to have a tattoo.

Where is the most painfull place to get one you think. soft skins i would imagine.

inside of your arm could be painfull. ermmmmm...........cant think of anything else.

im afriad of needles anyway. also afraid of doing anything i cant reverse without anyboyd noticing i did it. thats why i like system recovery.

I wouldn't say they're a "new" accessory.

I've been thinking about getting one for a long time. I want an original, so I've been trying to draw up my own design. Of course this means finding a talented artist to do custom work, which = $$$$$. I've always like the "sleeve" look, though I'd really have to consider how that look might affect future employment opportunities....maybe something on my back would be a little more concealable.

I just have the urge to do it....to express that side of me and those things that are important to me in some way. I suppose those of you with tats already know what I'm talking about...!

Thats fine if you don't like to shower or bath, but for those of us who know about personal hygene they probably aren't going to satisfy :)

I believe you can paint on this thick brown stuff, let it sit there for 30 minutes or so, then wash it off. You get a dark brown stain that takes about 2 months to wear out. I just can't remember what its called.

Sulphuric acid works good for that. Removes unwanted tattoos too.

You can have tattoos removed with lazer surgery - but then you need plastic surgery to remove the lazer surgery scars. :x

I think they look good on "real" warriors & tribal folk, but not on us city slickers!

If you wanna be a real rebel - get a tattoo on your face, go knock a clients door, announce that you've come to repair their computer & find out what people really think of them! Otherwise; to me they'll always be a cheap imitation of a symbol of bravery.

Pop\Sports "Stars" can afford to have them wherever they want, because they don't have to worry about earning a living anymore - kids don't think about things like that, they just wanna be "like Mike"! :p

Rather "pagan" I think! Never had the desire to get one.

I was in the Navy with a guy that had coon hounds tatooed completely around his middle with the last one chasing a fox you can image where. Said it took him a year to get them all done, maybe a dozen in all.

I've always wanted a tattoo of an iron cross when I was a kid, but figured it would make it easier for the police to identify me. Then I grew up and considered myself lucky not to do it. You can always shave off a mohawk, but a tattoo is permanent.

My girlfriend and I went on a short holiday to Gran Canaria a while ago, and we were literally the only people without tattoos. That's including kids from around 12 years old.

If you want to get rich, you'll set up a tattoo-removal company now, because in a few years a lot of people are going to want to have their faded-to-ugly-green-and-a-few-centimeters-lower-than-it-used-to-be tribal removed.

So, I've elected to pass. Maybe a removal business is a good idea... cater to the faint of heart ;)

I wouldn't get one of those either. Apparently there are different kinds or colours or something, and if you are sensitive to it the wrong kind can get you all kinds of nasty (and permanent) allergies.

A Dutch boy, on vacation with his family, had one done on the beach, and he soon developed all sorts of itching and stuff. He is now heavily allergic to sunscreen lotion, and can hardly go out into the sun anymore.

Errr no thanks.

fishybawb
12-08-2004, 09:45 AM
Those allergy cases are most often not caused by henna at all, but people using types of hair dye instead because it lasts longer and gives a darker colour. If the tattoo lasts more than a week, it's probably not henna. I've seen some pics of people affected by that though, and it ain't pretty

The cops use tatts as identifying marks, so if you turn up dead one day without your wallet, you might not end up as a John Doe.

Tats were the fad for quite a while. I got one back in 94, and don't regret it at all. It's small, on my right arm at the shoulder, and is easily hidden if I don't want to show it off.

What kills me is people who tattoo in very public places. The neck is a pet peeve of mine. I once saw a dude with "Lick My Balls" tattoo'ed on his neck. Very nice. I bet the nursing home he goes to will have fun with that. That doesn't hold a candle to the action I saw across a chicks abdomen once. Lets just say she probably gets a Brazilian wax so you can see it in all it's glory.

Tats are cool if they mean something to you.

And I know it's fad, but those small of the back tattoos on women are friggen HOT!

I have considered a tat of a gargoyle on my shoulder or back, and maybe a dragon on my upper arm or shoulder as well. So far, just the dots:D

My wife has a tiger hi on her inner thigh ( said it hurt worse than child birth ) and a bracelet. Both are tastefully done and she doesn't show the tiger to any but me!!:D
