MJCfromCT 12-03-2004, 08:42 AM Whoops! guess I should have checked, seeing as my post is two down from it :) fishybawb 12-03-2004, 08:59 AM I haven't quite figured out exactly what it does yet... Perhaps it just increases the cache size so more pages are stored locally or something  urdvurk 12-03-2004, 09:51 AM It enables HTTP pipelining, which allows more components of a page to be loaded through one connection (I think the standard procedure is to make and break a connection for every part of a web page), and it enables multiple simultaneous connections, which allows pages to be loaded through more than one connection, speeding up page loading considerably. fishybawb 12-03-2004, 09:54 AM Thanks for the explanation :) Makes you wonder why they don't just make that the default way of loading pages really... urdvurk 12-03-2004, 10:15 AM I think it might be something to do with load balancing and availability. With the old method pages will load slower, but more people will get a connection, so in times of lots of traffic less people will get refused. With the souped-up method pages will load faster, but a relatively low number of people will hog all the connections, causing a sort of queue or refusals when traffic is high. Then again, if pages load faster people will spend less time trying to load the page, so page serving speed must be up as well. Overall volume of traffic will be the same of course. crossedup 12-03-2004, 10:12 PM Works very well guys, thanks for the tip. :t ShadeZeRO 12-04-2004, 12:18 AM There is another tweak that i use... it uses the onboard CPU on your NIC card, it is a VERY good tweak, it dramatically increased my speed. Look it up in the forums, somone posted it, the topic was like 'post your favorite tweaks' or something like that r8500 12-04-2004, 10:32 AM Originally posted by ShadeZeRO There is another tweak that i use... it uses the onboard CPU on your NIC card, it is a VERY good tweak, it dramatically increased my speed. I would try uninstalling it completely, reboot...and reinstall it. Also...you may want to start a new thread, instead of "hijacking" this one...to get better help. SysOpt.com
