I recently built a new system using an Abit BH6 , pentium 350, etc..etc.. Anyway, I am getting an intermittant Primary master hard drive failure at bootup. If I reset, 80% of the time I will get to the OS and I'm on my way. I've only built about 3 systems so far, so I'm sure there are plenty problems out there I have yet to encounter. I have never had a hard drive **** out on me yet so I don't really know the warning signs, but this drive was taken out of a computer that it had been working fine in. It is my oldest hard drive so it is possible, I guess...Any ideas?

Try using a different drive.
I had the same problem on a BH6 using an older drive as a slave. I got rid of it and all is good.

Check your bios setting and disable quick boot-up. some older Hard drives can't initialize fast enough during a quickboot.

Try installing a new calibrator it sometimes conflicts with the gearstick on the main harddisk controller

what is a gear stick? or a calibrator?
Thanks for the info on older hdd and the quick boot up option. My new FIC vas503+ is also having trouble with older hdds. intermittant hdd failures.
