I have Winfax Pro 8.0 which includes "Talkworks 8.0". I have a Creative Modem Blaster DI5660 which won't support the answering machine function according to Tech Support. Tech support said that "Hayes" might work but didn't know which one. I found about 50 Hayes modems.
The Creative Blaster DI5660 is fax/voice/data
capable.
Does anyone know what driver I may harmlessly substitute to get full fax and voice function.

Symantec suggested I buy their upgrade, I suggested they eat gravel.

Thanks in advance...

I don't think it is a driver issue. Winfaxpro/talkworks, during setup analizes the modem to determine capabilities. Is the Creative modem a fax/voice capable modem. If not, you can't use it as an answering machine. Upgrading to V9 will not make any difference.

Toms111... Yes it is capable fax/modem/data
It's just the Talksworks in this edition, (now obsolete), won't recognize all features of my modem.

Thx2...

Try Generic versions of your chipset. I use the generic rockwell drivers. Talkworks says it may not work when I am installing it but it works just fine. You will have to install call display too, in order to get caller ID to work.

You said it it "capable fax/modem/data". You didn't say "voice capable". If the modem is not voice capable, it can't do what you want. It is a hardware issue!

My two cents.

I found out after downloading the 25MB at 56k connection ( What a headache). Anyways the talkworks won't let me use the answering machine in mine either. When autoanswer was enabled the modem set fax beeps but wouldn't switch over to voice, consequently then it would hang up on the caller.

My modem is a PCTEL HSP 56k Fax/Voice/data modem.

I eventually got tired of trying to get it work and went to zdnet and downloaded a shareware answering machine. I don't have the name off hand what it was but type various words associated with phones and you'll see the programs they have.

Eventually I'll have my Linux Redhat 6.0 answering the phone, when I can fiqure out the language of configuring it.
