Weird problem with CD ROM

Hi there,

I'm trying to install my new cd rom (40X IDE) and he's making weird things. When I boot up my computer, the light start to flash and he kepps opening and closing. Does anyone know wtf is happening?

If all the cables are on properly, than I'd say the CD ROM should be replaced.

I have sent three CL ide 36X cdroms back for the same reason.

Had problems with that for a long time also, sent back about 5 24X cd rom drives, but i figured out a way to fix that, I went inside the computer and unplugged all the cables attached to the cdrom drive and plugged them back in and now it works fine.

No, Imean in different computers, each time they replaced the drives under warrentee. The prob was compatibility, not really by model type but by specific PC-CD combo's.
