Hi, I used to have a GeForce 2 card, and it worked fine with my monitor (that is, when I go to monitor properties, it would show Sony Trinitron Multiscan 200ES)

However, I recently put in a Geforce4 card, and now it just registes the monitor as 'default monitor.' When I adjust the brightness/contrast buttons on my monitor, it only toggles between 0 and 100, nothing from 1-99, which is a pain. My monitor is either extremely dark or extremely bright.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any help?

Thanks in advance.

See if your monitor manufacturer has any updated drivers for your particular model, and also look for newer video driver. I'm willing to bet it is running a generic faisafe microsoft driver.

I checked DriverGuide.com, and it looks like a hell of a lot of trouble. The monitor drives are all extremely generic, and the drive for my graphics card is just the geforce 4 mx drive.

would something like this happen if your card was messed up?

It doesn't sound like its "messed up", probably just needs correct drivers. or it may not be compatible.
