I just got Windows 2000 Beta 3 on cd, and before I install it on my celeron 366 128 RAM computer, I wanna know how well it will run. I'm an average computer user / gamer / web browser, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any major bad points of it which is worse than 98 which i'm using right now.

Good point - stability

bad point - no 3dfx support

stay with win98 until it's released in a final version

Reinstalling the latest right now as I type. The last build supported the TNT vid card and the V2 (I have the drivers) and this version may or may not support my TNT2 Ultra.

I'll let you know!

The problems I came up with was the limited driver support and the fact that windows 2000 professional or nt 5.0(whichever you are installing) Is very memory extensive.

My two cents...

How do you get a BETA copy of Win2K?
Thanks

It helps to get the Select CD's from work!

You can order it from MS, just browse their sites and you will find it.

The latest build says it does not support TNT2, but I loaded the NT4 TNT2 Detonator reference drivers on mine, works pretty well, but a pain to figure out how to load them. You have to do the auto-detect hardware phase again from control panel then point to the drivers, otherwise the driver tab in display settings is greyed out.

Seem's like it works with all my hardware! Now if I could only get it to pick up the internet connection thru my LanCity!

I installed it to my SCSI drive and still have my IDE drive as the C: drive. I went NTFS5 on the SCSI and removed the IDE detection from bios, but NT5 still picked up the Win98 on the disabled ide and setup dual boot anyway! Even tho the drive is not detected in bios!

So, the truth is, the boot device is not the C: drive, but the D: drive and it's happy like that!

I noticed that Win 2000 doesn't use an IRQ for my printer, anybody else? I believe my NIC is on IRQ 7.
