Award Bios v4.51PG message
Tyn Tomcat v4.01 message

Memory detect and test
PnP Bios v1.0a message
Hard drive detect
System Configurations Table display

>the following messages appear:
Updating ESCD...Success
Verifying DMI Pool Data..................
(blinking cursor below Pool Data line)

I have set the bios defaults, set floppy to boot first....

The computer will not boot from hard drive or floppy, but hangs after the DMI Pool Data verify. I had attempted to install two
network cards and was having some IRQ conflicts with the sound board. The last thing I did was restore known good system files:
system.ini, win.ini, system.dat, user.dat.
I had successfully done this a number of times trying to resolve the conflict. At one point I encountered the above problem and can't get past it. All peripherals are removed except an isa video card, hard drive, floppy drive, and memory. I have attempted to boot without the hard drive. The floppy is being recognized.

Verifying DMI Pool Data..................
Does this point to a hosed BIOS (odd because I can access and change BIOS parameters), did the motherboard go south, or is it something else?

Sounds like you pretty much checked all the basics and a little advanced stuff too.

Let's trace the steps...

Why did you have to restore system files?

I had the same kind of thing happen once too, turned out a virus going resident when the IDE detection occurred, which brings me to a few possibilities:

1. Did you reset all bios parameters to default?

2. Have you tried to boot to a known good, write protected floppy with no hard drive connected what so ever at all? And by "known good" I mean you just made it on another normally working PC, write protected it and test booted with it!

3. Do you know for sure the floppy drive actually works?

4. Have you had any electrical outages of surges you can identify that could lead to MB trauma?

I think there are still multiple causes for this type symptom, so keep chuggin away at it!

Check out my other response to this same problem under this category. It's listed under DMI also. Let us know if it helps.

I had that happen to me once with a BH6.

Sorry to say, the mobo was dead.
I was told something with the capacitiers
went bad.

Then again thats what I was told by the vendor after he replaced it with a new one.
Thank god for warranties.

I pretty much tried it all...
CPU, memory, hard drive only, floppy only with a known working boot disk, removed the on-board cache, even swapped the power supply because it looked like it had excessive ripple on it...but nothing worked. Looks like the mother board took a hit, even though I'm not sure what the cause.
