Finally got FIC PA-2012 mobo up with a Pentium 233 MMX. BIOS won't recognize drives. I've checked and changed cables and jumpers, but no help. It says something about "failed" for the floppy. I've gone into the BIOS and enabled the PNP, and the drives all say "auto".
I'm over my head... time to ask the gang.

Well, I'm making progess. Found out that the NEC floppy I installed, has to have the cable flopped so that Pin #1 is away from the power plug. Got the CD-rom working too. Couldn't get BIOS to reconize my old reliable quantum drive, so I tried a old WD that I had and it came right up on the list. Doesn't seem to matter how I set up the jumpers on the Quantum... master or slave.
The only question left is how come the BIOS finds the WD, but not the Quantum?

This may sound stupid, but you did plug the floppy into the right plugin right? It goes into the plug that says FDD next to it and not an ide plug. If your referring to it not listing the drives when you boot up, you may have to set the parameters for the hard drive. You'll need the manual for that. Set the hard drive as LBA too. You can still leave them at auto detect as well. Make sure the jumpers are set correctly too. Hard drive should be master, and cdrom should be secondary master and if you have a zip drive, set that to secondary slave. Mine is setup that way and works fine. Hard drive should go to ide plug 1 and cdrom and/or zip should go to ide 2. If you have a ultra cable leave the hard drive jumper as cable select though. Also check in the bios to see if floppy seek is enabled or not.
