i have an old compaq 80386 that i want to restore to some level of funcionality...right now it won't load windows or recognize the a drive...i want to add a new cd rom drive to it and upgrade to windows 95.....how do i access the bios to get it to find my a drive so i can start working on it?

The older Compaq machines that I have had required a setup disk to access their bios level setup. Start digging on Compaq's website and you may yet be able to download it.

800XL is quite right. But if you cannot access your A drive you are stuck in a catch 22 situation.

You can also use a diagnostic program like pc plus. I have a Compaq Deskpro 386s 16mhz
with the original disks.

Edit: The program is QAPlus not PC Plus, Sorry. I combined the names of two program's I have PC Diag & QAPlus.
