I have a PC-Chips Xcel2000 m748mr Motherboard. Fully Loaded=onboard video, sound, modem, ps/2 ports, usb ports.
The board supossedley supports upto a pentium 3 500mhz Cpu. I have a Pentium 2 400mhz celeron in it.... The problem:
When I power on everything seems to be working (Fan comes on, harddrive turns on, cd-rom turns on, etc...) Everything but the video. I have tried the onboard video, I have disabled it and used attachment video cards. Still nothing. Jumpers are set correctly. Cmos was set to clear when I got it, but i have set it back to normal. I am at a loss and no help from the mobo manufacturer.
Thanks in advance for any help.
William

Hi

Does your PC beeps when you switch it on ?
If yes, how many times ?

Make sure that the cpu if fully inserted in the slot/socket (is a socket or slot celeron ?)

Maybe your mobo needs a BIOS update to support the celeron ?

Recheck the memory and make sure it's in tight or switch it to another slot. If that fails, you can always try resetting the BIOS again.

The M748mr will fool you seating the cpu.I always place my fingertips under the mainboard and finish seating the cpu with the heel of my hand. Make sure Dimm#1 is occupied for the onboad video to work. Unplug all drive cables and try it. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Hi,

I think it is a CPU problem. Maybe it is not fully inserted or the mobo needs a BIOS update.
I had a similar problem with an ASUS P2L97 and a PII 333MHz. When I booted the PC, no beeps, nothing.
So, I cheked the Asus web site and, indeed, I needed a BIOS update for the mobo to support the PII 333MHz.
So, I had to swap with another CPU, update the BIOS, re-plug the PII 333MHz and everything worked OK !

What you could try is use another CPU and see if the PC boots up !

Good luck

skywalker - you may want to start a new thread and list your hardware, too. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Skywalker,

Like said even if you video card was damaged, your PC should beeps.
Is it a new system you have recently built/upgraded ?

Again, check inside if everything is plugged OK.
