XP regedit "Connect Network Registry"

Acronis has been working with me to resolve a problem w/ True Image. There instructions are:

> Could you please delete all entries in this key?
> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\MountedDevices

> Run regedit on another Windows XP computer and Connect Network Registry

Can someone explain what "Connect Network Registry" does and what you use it for? I assume it's the File Menu item in XP's (SP1a) regedit.
