Not sure what Mag (Maximum PC, Pc Mag, CPU or SmartCompute) had the greatest Hint I have ever used. Now I lost it ,system crash. I have even bought back issues of some of the mags to find the article with no lock. Does any one know.

You move the address to the task bar. From here you can type in a short cut to lunch a program or ex acute a web site.

If I remember you would put a file, for each short cut, in the system directory. than make an enter in the register. I believe the register directory would be:
hkey_local_machine_software_microsoft_windows_curr entversion_ not sure of the rest.

I hope someone knows the article.

Am I correct that you want to execute programs and go to web pages from the taskbar. If that's not it stop reading. If it is...

Put "Quick Launch" toolbar on the taskbar.
Go to any program or favorite and create a shortcut.
Drag the shortcut to the quick launch toolbar.

Why don't you just right click on your taskbar, under toolbars, tick Address.

Use that...

Putting the address on the task bar is the easy part. The hard part is having the shortcut interact with the registery.

Once you see the solution to the problem, you will be amazed.

With a little luck, a lot of luck, the author of the article might see this message.

You're looking for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\ From there you can add strings and application paths to launch any application you have installed.

Dont you need a file that the registry has to point to? And what is the code that hae to be entered? Yopu seem to be the missing link for the "Hint" that has been driving me nuts.

I could lay it out for you here, but the guys at Virtual Plastic have been into this stuff way longer than I have. Check out that link up there and follow the directions. Hopefully that'll help. In my opinion, the VP community is the foundation for all Windows mods and hacks out there. I can't speak highly enough of those guys.

Hey, no problem. Glad I could help. I know what its like to forget or lose a registry hack you can't live without. Its happened to me a few times. You may want to consider backing up those registry entries for future reference. Next time you reformat or whatever you can just double click the backups and merge them. You won't need to go to all the trouble of adding them in one at a time.
