I was surfing by some website with some multimedia content, and one of it prompted me to install Quick Time in order to play a MOV file.

Well, I didn't want to install Quick Time, so I clicked No.

The next time I rebooted the system, there it was, the quick time icon in my taskbar. I checked my Program Files folder, and Quick Time folder was there.

Is it me or is there something wrong with my system. I obviously clicked No, so why is it still installing by itself?

Sometimes clicking anywhere those things will install it without you knowing about it, see if you can remove it from the Add\Remove programs under the control panel.
Good Luck:t

Get rid of it and download Irfanview. It will play not only .mov files but also, most any other audio or graphics file.
One of the nice things about this app, besides being free, is that it does not hijack associations. Instead, it offers you the options, while suggesting that these associations are unnecessary. You may, however, wish to associate it with .mov extensions to help keep QuickTime at bay.

EDIT: Make sure that you get the plugins too. :t

If u wanna stop any further DL of Quick Time place this in ur IE restricted sites: www.apple.com

NOTE: If u do this u wont be able to goto http://www.apple.com

I did this for the macromedia flash, for it's DL site, an no DL of the flash plugin, OH, I use Ifranview for playing flash.
