But a parallel port is easier to go from machine to machine with. It's also harder to configure. Keep in mind not all motherboards like Zip drives enough for them to work.
Actually Nathan one USB would be easier providing the machines have the ports /forum/wink.gif
Didn't know there is a scsi zip. If so it would be fastest, then IDE, USB, with parallel being slowest.
Which is better depends on your needs and the rest of your hardware. If you've got the port & bay available, IDE would be easiest for single machine usage.
USP & parallel, as Nathan said, give the advantage of portability, with parallel being available on ANY machine. But parallel can conflict with the printer...
Anyway, for me portability was the key. Went with parallel & am happy with it. Speed was not really a factor, I don't use it enough that a few seconds matter that much.

USB.
YES USB ROCKS.
Only way to go.
I use it on every machine that my grubby little hands touch.
SCSI is probably faster but USB is quicker.
How many machines have you seen with SCSI lately?
I have use ide on a regular basis, and it works fine if you only have one computer. I have tried parallel and it is very slow and cause some printer problems, I recently helped my dad get a usb zip for his laptop, and I am quite impressed with it. It seems just as fast as my ide and the ease of setup, hot swaping and portability are great. I haven't tried the scsi, but it would be the fastest, and most expensive assuming you don't have a scsi card already.

USB, paralell is limited by the bandwith, scsi used an expensive internel port, IDE will slow down a hard disk or CDROM drive it is with, the best would by USB, since no one even uses their USB spots, and the throughput, although low, is faster than the drive can read. If i ever get one however, I will go for an internel model.
Bought my iomega scsi zip as a kit(scsi card, cable and drive)fer 99.00 online line.
If you leave the drive factory default fir id and its the only device, then all ya have to do is plug in the autodetecting scsi card(support built in 95\98)screw down the drive attach yer cable and turn on the machine. On early versions of 95 you may have to run the guest95 exe off the cd to detect the drive.
It is definitely the fastest of your choices. If speed is yer only concern then this is the way top go.
If you want portability then go for the usb but remember that not all machines have usb ports.
