Recently bought a Plextor 8x20 and it is the absolute best burner made. So far i've been using Imation 8x cdr's and haven't made a coaster yet. I've gone through pretty much all 25 of them and i need to get some more, but i'm just looking for recommendations on the best 8x certified media to buy. Any comments appreciated..

thanks

Mitsumi, TDK, Kodak are tops... get some 80min ones too. It'll come in handy.

Goldboy,

Welcome to the Plextor fan club! I too have the 8x burner with a 40x ultraplex cdrom to feed it with! I use both the Imation and TDK for 8x certified media. I have used Mitsumi but no one locally stocks it. Both TDK and Imation I have never had problems with and they are easily procurred.

I've burned about 200 discs using Hi-Val stock media (spindle packs of 50) on the Plextor 8x20 and only one frisbee so far. That one was an ill fated attempt to overburn to 78 minutes. One note is that this is not 8x certified media. The Plextor is just so good, that it really doesn't matter. Not much better, except perhaps a 12x...

I have also found that the media doesn't seem to matter much on my Plextor 8x20.

This burner seems to be able to handle most things I throw at it.
