Hi all,
I'm just wondering what files are the likely culprit that have been filling my C drive. I've deleted temp. internet files, but wondering where else I could cull, like unneeded install files, ect..
The system's XP Pro, 8 gig C partition, and over 6 gigs full. I don't seem to be able to account for 2.5 gigs.
Thanks.

You could use something like CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) to help cleanup. Then defrag afterwards. Something to consider is XP Pro SP2 can take up 4 -5 GB space , then add programs like Office XP,games, etc. and it doesn't take long to get to 6 GB's .

I use that one too. You start to really like the way it visually shows your drives.:t

Update:I'd been trying for a few weeks to track down where all my drive space was going as I have 8 gigs partitioned, but could only account for @ 5.5...tearing my hair out. Well, after running scandisk, the drive still looked very fragmented, so i checked the scandiisk report, and it said the Dr Watson folder couldn't be defraged. I deleted the file (text log), and got my 2.5 gigs back.
I don't remember ever using Dr Watson, and would like some more info on the program. Any ideas how I could get a log file that large?

Dr Watson is a part of Windows NT based systems, so 2000 and XP as well. It is something that can be used for debugging information and so on. Go through your event viewer to see the Dr Watson entries, and it might give you an idea about what event entries are causing Dr Watson logs. You must get a lot of crashes though.

No crashes with any regularity, just a few over the months since my last fresh install. Log was too large for Word to open, so I deleted the file, and no new Dr Wat files since.
This is weird...
