I'm looking to put together a PC with one of the small form factor Shuttle or Soltek PC's. I do like to do some gaming, but I'm concerned that the small power supply (200-250 watts) wouldn't be enough to upgrade the video card or CPU.

Is anybody using a sff for gaming and how does it perform??

thanks for any info

Yep. I'm running a Biostar iDEQ 200N at the minute. It's got a Mobile Barton 2500+ in it running at 2.3GHz and an 9600XT currently, but that'll be upgraded to a 6600GT as soon as I can get hold of an AGP one. Don't worry too much about the power supplies - there are plenty of people out there running overclocked 6800GTs on their systems with no problems :t

Wow - that's great!

How does it handle the heat from the CPU and video card??

The cooling's pretty good considering (the Shuttles use a clever heatpipe system called ICE, whereas my Biostar has a heatpipe heatsink with a fan that blows horizontally through it, expelling the hot air out of the back with a second fan), but expect higher temps than a desktop system. I've not noticed anything serious, but then I don't exactly live in the warmest part of the world ;) If you're not planning on overclocking, the Mobile chips are pretty handy if temperatures are a concern since they run on lower voltages.
