I am attempting to install an Asus P2B-F with intel 440BX AGP set to no avail. I make all my connections (which I'm pretty sure are correct) and when I try to power up, the Case fans start up for a second or two and then everything shuts off - no power. Have I cooked something ?? If I haven't provided enough information let me know and I'll add to the post. Thanks for any help.

If you mean the cpu fan starts just for a second(kinda jerks), you've probly hooked up the power wires to the board, BACKWARD!! The two connectors, when attached to the connection, should have the black wires in each connector BESIDE each other. If the black wires are both to the OUTSIDE, give the board a decent burial!! Hope that's NOT what happened, good luck.

I don't get any activity from the CPU fan. It's the case fan that starts spinning and then quits. I'm convinced that something is cooked but what ? Power Supply ? Motherboard ? My head ?

Its possible that in your power supply
you have a capacitor that is drying out
this stems from the seam might be a little
split from heat...as the capacitor dries
an intial charge will likely work and after that the component heats up past usefulness
just a thought.....
