I installed Acronis True Image 8.0 last night. I imaged my entire C drive (single partition) to the root of my D drive.

I am confused by the directions provided in the users manual when it comes to restoring the image. Under "Selecting Partition Type" three choices are presented, Active, Primary and Logical. The image I wish to restore is my entire C drive. Which option do I choose? Will the restored automatically be renamed as C?

This process appears to be more complicated then I had envisioned.

Thanks everyone for your help. The directions say that the original partition is selected by default. HA! Where have I heard that before. I'll just wait and see when the time comes.

The answer just arrived in a surprise e-mail response from Acronis tech support. If the drive to which the image is being restored is a boot drive, the correct selection is ACTIVE.

I thought I would post the answer in case other users might also be pondering the same question.

Thank you Steven R Jones for mirroring my post on another public forum. I learned a lot from that.

Ya. We don't want people spending a lot of time doing research when the solution has already been found;)
