Have you done a XFree86 --configure (might be just -configure) yet? Also, how are you trying to start x? just with startx? try switching to whichever screen X usually resides on, (F7 or F8 on slackware, I don't know about fedora), check there isn't already an X server running. Tony2005 10-29-2004, 09:14 AM it cant start the server in the first place, richard_cocks 10-29-2004, 09:15 AM Yes, but how are you trying to start it, is it Xfree86 or Xorg, and is it properly configured for your system/video card? Tony2005 10-29-2004, 09:20 AM its xorg, the only configuration i got was at installation time andeven that was just the resolution, i have tried startx but that fails aswell Tony2005 10-29-2004, 06:34 PM tired to configure the xorg.conf file but no luck, any more ideas?
