could some on help me? every time i log onto the internet with my "56kbps" modem it says it is connecting at 28.8kbps. is there any windows tricks or drivers to download?:confused:

If it doesn't go V.90 but is stuck at V.34 speeds (28.8 as you observe), then possibly your local phone exchange isn't digital yet, or the quality and length of the line to your house (or in your house) doesn't allow the V.90 mode (which would give you the fast download direction).

Or the phone wiring in the house is old or not wired correctly, or, or, or...........I could go on.
