Don't *ever* post your e-mail address in a public forum - unless you like spam and viruses. As you can see, we have ways of contacting you without that.

When was the last time that you successfully updated Windows? Is Service Pack 4 installed?

Have you tried booting into Safe Mode with Networking (F8) and doing the update there?

wow, no service packs. That would be my first step, download and install SP4.

I would get SP4 and IE 6.0 right away.

go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and choose Windows 2000

Then download SP4 for network administrators.

ok, if the network install isn't working, there there is something seriously wrong. Does it give you any more information than that?

sounds like a reload is in order. how long were you running win2k without any service packs? you are open to so many viruses and worms that something probably messed up your system.

reload windows while you are disconnected from the internet. install service pack 4 and critical windows updates related to the blaster, welchia, and sasser worms before downloading the rest of the updates.
