I used to play this game a while ago, then I got reminded of it again tonight, and now I want to play it really badly again! I'm about to get it again, because I used to really love playing them game.

Just wondering if anyone else ever play it??

I used to play it also. Very detailed, very good game. I'm a bit more partial to RTS games tho.

A horrible remake of a great game that had a horrible remake as well. Civ I was all Sid ever did that was great, and before it became popular, he gave all the credit to some other now unknown game which was very much similar to civ 1 IIRC. Now he states he created the genre. I personally will not EVER by another Firaxis product or a product that has either Sid Meier's name or Brian Reynold's name somewhere on it, as all that means is poor gameplay and bugs while completely pissing on the community saying the bugs are the users fault and they can't recreate them when EVERYONE on Firaxis boards could. I used to post there and saw the implosion from their fanbase. That is why they don't run their own boards anymore but proxy it out to another site that will censor anything berating Firaxis.

The best out of the series was Civ 2 as it fixed some problems with one, but still has a ton of bugs, just not the gamebreakers Civ 3 still has after all the releases and patches. It is pathetic.

I remember Alpha Centauri, it had an infinite range missile bug for the AI (and you if you let the AI control your pieces). They said it was fixed in a patch. Within days it was found it still wasn't fixed. More examples were sent to them so they could see what was going wrong, then they said it was fixed again. Yet it was still broken. As of the last patch that I know of, it wasn't fixed (and that was a problem, though not nearly as bad in Civ 2 - so you know the code was pretty much carbon copied and stamped onto different graphics). Not to mention diplomacy that was so higly touted in 3 was worse than in 2 IMO. Okay, your angry, why?

LOL, Very interesting Someone Stupid. Well, not knowing the history, I enjoyed the game when I use to play and I'll probably get it again, since for some reason I really feel the urge to want to play for some reason!

I had this game and played it some and for me..I did not care for it...

Just too much in the menus and stuff to keep track of and deal with.....

One would be hard pressed to not have to read a whole lot and figure all the controls and menu options for it..... just too confusing ......

I still like games like Rise of Nations ...even though it might be construed to be differnt in scope and play.......
