The original defined the MMORPG genre, will the second one succeed or flop?
Looks like they will beat World of Warcraft to the punch by two weeks or so.

Been in the beta now for two weeks, and I'm pretty impressed. SOE has a long history of delivering games before they're ready but not with this one. Everywhere I go, there's polish. I just may have to buy this stupid game.

Im pretty excited to see how it is. I briefly (very briefly) played SWG and couldn't get into it at all. It seemed very dumbed down, hopefully EQ2 isn't the same.

Yeah SWG was good for like the first 2 months then it got very boring. I never played the first EQ I probably should've. Hopefully the second one will be good stuff. I'm not planning on buying an MMORPG until Middle-Earth online comes out next year but if EQ2 is just amazing then I'll probably check it out.

I play the first EQ. Many of the players can't wait for EQ2. I think it will be successful.
My reasons are:
-Sony Brand Name
-Current EQ success (and player anticipation)
-After getting some expansions for EQ it dramatically improved the game and DX 9 support made it even better

There are a large number of original Everquest fans that are planning on restarting EQ2. My main concern is that they don't try to dumb down the game TOO much. Easy transportation and easy items tend to kill games

That sword cuts both ways. Lineage 2 being a prime example.
