Ok. I installed the 6.4gig AC26400 drive with no problems. Fdisked and formatted it with FAT32.

Once done, I booted to a floppy and ran WDATA-66 v1.49 to enable UATA/66 on the drive. The program detected the drive, but said that it was not Ultra Ata/66 capable. I've asked here before if this drive was capable, and the answer was yes. So I checked for the other possible problems.

I have a M748mr PC-chips motherboard with the Xcel2000 Chipset. My manual says the board supports UDMA/66.

I know the drive supports UDMA/66.

I am using a UDMA/66 cable I ordered from www.ultracable.com.

Now, when I checked the DMA option on the drive in Windows, then restarted, the option WAS NOT selected when it booted up. The BIOS is reading the drive in PIO Mode 4, and UDMA Mode 2. I have another old Seagate 1GB drive hooked up my system with the DMA option checked, and it stays. I'm not sure what to do next?

Help would be MOST appriciated. Thanks! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
