I dont' know much about image or editing, but lately just got a digital camera and jsut wonder how do I shrink my image without losing quality? I take my pics and their original size is around 600 to 1 mb. I can reduce them with paint, but is this the only way? I also notice my quality also reduced. Is there better way to reduce the size of your original without losing much quality? What is the best apps or ways for this?

Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Photo Editor, or a number of other editors.

Check tucows.com, or zdnet.com for others.

I use Paint shop pro for that myself but its not freeware.

Lets you resize by percentage or pixels.

The secret to lossless reduction and expansion of pictures is to convert them to BMP files first. Editing JPEGs and GIFs makes for ugly pictures.

Editing JPEGs and GIFs makes for ugly pictures.I agree... and PNG format is pretty good too. What GIF-JPG lose PNG keeps.
