I have a JetWay J-656VXC motherboard with a Pentium-166 CPU. Each time I boot up Win95, it responds with a Registry Error message and asks that I reboot and restore the registry from an earlier known valid copy. But that never does the trick. Upgrading to Win98 gives almost the same problem, except that the registry error is detected earlier in the bootup sequence. Some of the time, I am able to boot successfully into Win98 after the registry is "fixed" on the spot, but at other times bootup is erratic and I get all sorts of weird error messages. A problem with the "dynapage" device is mentioned quite often. Removing the reference to that driver in the SYSTEM.INI file doesn't help the situation, because it just re-appears again in that file.

Can anyone help? I'm thinking motherboard problems.

Check your RAM.

Check your computer for a virus. My old 486 with win95b did the same thing for 3 weeks straight until a friends computer found a NYB virus on one of my floppies and sure enough the drive had it too. That was a pain in the neck since I spent 3 weeks of re-installs before I found it.
